The indigenous Rhenosterveld to be found in the Swartland has many varieties of plants which cannot be found in other regions in the Cape. In spring the fields come to life with colours and smells to brighten any day.

Koringberg now offers two splendid hiking trails as well as mountain biking tracks. The cactus flower below right blooms only once every few years for a few days.

Hiking trail maps and permits are available for a tiny fee at restaurant and accommodation establishments in the town. They are also available at the Moorreesburg Tourism Bureau
